Physical Brokenness #011
In this weeks episode your hosts Anna and Jordan share their stories of physical brokenness. Anna shares her experience of physical abnormalities from birth, and what that looked like for her as a child growing up and dealing with surgeries and procedures. And Jordan shares her story of a horse riding accident which left her with a broken back, and years of chronic pain afterwards. We chat through what it means to go through physical trauma, the effect it has had on our lives, and where we've found Jesus amongst the muddle.
2 Corinthians 12:6-7
"If I wanted to boast, I would be no fool in doing so, because I would be telling the truth. But I won’t do it, because I don’t want anyone to give me credit beyond what they can see in my life or hear in my message,
even though I have received such wonderful revelations from God. So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud."
Virginia Woolf "On Being Ill" : "We do not know our own souls, let alone the souls of others. Human beings do not go hand in hand the whole stretch of the way."
"Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope."
“Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.”3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel.4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
"As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him."
